Welcome to the Sier Piano Studio!
Maria L. Sier, NCTM, has been teaching in the Everett/Snohomish area for over 25 years. She is State and Nationally Certified through the Music Teachers' National Association, and is Certified through the Well-Prepared Pianist Institute. In addition, she is licensed to teach the Well-Prepared Pianist Institute course to piano teachers. She is active in the local Snohomish County Chapter. Her students regularly participate in chapter events, including recitals, Music in Action, Scholarship Competition, and Young Artist Master Series. She has had many students win Concerto and Scholarship Competitions. Several of her students have gone on to major in Piano Performance at such universities as Central Washington University, Western Washington University, Seattle Pacific University, Amherst College, Northwestern University, Michigan State University, Washington State University and the University of Washington.
Mrs. Sier received her Bachelor of Music degree from Pacific Lutheran University, where she was a student of Calvin Knapp. She then went to University of Missouri - Kansas City , where she studied with Richard Cass. She played piano and celeste with the Everett Symphony for over 20 years. She is a member of the Quintessence PianoTeam®, which performs works arranged for five pianos. Mrs. Sier is an adjudicator for Washington State Music Teachers' Association, and gives master lessons in her studio and around the Puget Sound area.
Mrs. Sier welcomes students of all ages and levels who are self-motivated and excited about learning to play the piano. She offers weekly 60-minute private lessons, and monthly Group Lesson where the students work on performance skills, play theory games and rehearse their PianoTeams® pieces. Beginners are trained in the Well-Prepared Pianist approach developed by Master Teacher, N. Jane Tan, along with a variety of methods and materials adapted to the needs and learning styles of each individual student. Mrs. Sier regularly prepares transfer students for the Royal Conservatory or ABRSM exams if they have already begun a program and would like to continue in that program.
